Method 1: Manually update the links
To manually update the links in the workbook, follow these steps:
With the workbook open, click the
Data
tab.
In the
Connections
group, click
Edit Links
.
Click the link that you want to update, and then click
Update Values
.
Click
Close
to close the
Edit Links
dialog box.
Method 2: Set the links to update automatically
If you receive the security warning message that is mentioned in the "Symptoms" section, follow these steps:
In the security warning message, click
Options
.
Click
Enable this content
, and then click
OK
.
Method 3: Change the startup prompt for the workbook
To change the startup prompt for the workbook, follow these steps:
With the workbook open, click the
Data
tab.
In the
Connections
group, click
Edit Links
.
Click
Startup Prompt
.
Click
Let users choose to display the alert or not
, and then click
OK
.

dialog box.

Click to select the following options, as appropriate for your situation:

dialog box.
